Abstract

This research is part of the search and analysis of the religious ideology related to the afterlife, of the pre-Hispanic societies that inhabited the territory that includes the provinces of Pichincha, from the Rumipamba ravine (Quito), Imbabura and Carchi in Ecuador and the Altiplano de Ipiales in Colombia; (Sierra Norte), the same that has been reflected in the iconographic designs of the ceramic containers deposited next to the deceased and that constitute part of his funeral trousseau.

The rites of passage are the most important occasion to begin the learning of the sacred, and for this the liturgy is the vehicle through which a visual teaching of the sacred mysteries is transmitted; since it allows us to delve into the particularities of this cult and, to know its ethical and moral precepts, the way in which its followers relate to their gods, in short, it gives us a guideline of what their vision of the world is like.
