Abstract

This essay collects the memories and experiences of the Orense people seen from the appreciation of the homeland, a place from which the territorial bond as well as the identity is highlighted. The work presents a description of the Province of El Oro in its geographical characteristics that show the relief, the hydrography, the potentialities of its agricultural, livestock and mineral resources as well as the marine resources and the laborious vocation of its people and immigrants towards trade. and the industry.

 This writing makes a brief historical tour that includes prehistory to the present day where interesting events of the 19th century are collected and liberalism, however, highlights and prioritizes the 20th century in its episodes of strength, wealth, poverty and reconstruction after the Peruvian invasion from 1942. Zaruma mining and its contrasts; The export of cocoa, banana, shrimp, oil and gas is also described; Likewise, agricultural production for internal consumption and the importance of their farms are recorded, as well as agroindustry and environmental depredation and contamination by fumigation. In each period or productive cycle, the contributions of the different cities of the Province of El Oro are highlighted.
