Abstract

In this article family ties and consanguinity links of some of the enlightened ones of the Audience of Quito and the city of Quito are shown, therefore, it represents a contribution to the genealogical knowledge of family roots from the end of the 18th century until the middle of the XIX century, in some cases.

To the reader we present the entire list of 556 successful students of the thirteen courses in the philosophy of the Colegio Real y Mayor de San Luis in Quito, from 1786 until 1828: Thus, the reader will know the names of the 556 students who completed their studies of philosophy in their majority as enrolled of the Real and Public University of Quito between the years 1786 and 1828. It is important to note that some of those successfully examined studied in other institutions, such as that of the Franciscans, or Dominicans, indicated to the right of the document presented as a table with X.

In total, 189 students had been trained in Quito, 138 in the area of the Audience of Quito, but did not reside in the city itself; 47 of the students examined came from other countries, such as Chile, Spain, or Lima: there are 371 students with known provenance, out of 556 in total, due to which we record the number of 184 students examined in Quito, with origin unknown until today. Of the students with underlined names, it has been possible to know the date of their enrollments.

Some information about their jobs or professional life, after 1830 in the country Ecuador, is added to their names and to the dates of the examens. In addition, information is added if, during the government of Toribio Montes 1812-17, they were added would have called Seductive Insurgents; so the abbreviation IS is placed at the right end of the table, in the sense of seeing in them certain anti-Spanish initiatives, at that time. In addition, the political tendency of realistic or convinced realist has been placed at the end of the table, with an R and, as a curious fact, the letter E, which means Expósito.
