Abstract

The work presented is a theoretical review of authoritarianism in Latin America. Contemplate two parts. The first exposes the thinking of the following authors: Gino Germani, Guillermo O'Donell, Norbert Lechner, Vania Bambirra, Atilio Boron. The second synthesizes the reflections on authoritarianism. This essay seeks to contextualize the phenomenon analyzed through the thinking of the exposed authors, the different forms of organization of the State that has given rise in an attempt to understand the recent conflicts of governance, authoritarianism and power in the recent history of Latin America.

The central idea of ​​this essay is the following: the origin of authoritarianism in Latin America is related to the inability of successive governments to shape a State that is able to meet the demands of different social sectors in order to ensure that it is not surpassed by such sectors, all of which would cause subsequent and inevitable political crises.
