Abstract

In 2007 in Ecuador, the formation of a truth commission was promoted, with the purpose of investigating the violation of human rights that occurred in the country in the period 1984-2008, as well as to prepare a proposal for reparation policies and judicialization. The truth commission - Ecuador (CEV), during its investigation collected information from both documentary memory (declassified documents of the National Police, and Armed Forces), as well as testimonial (versions of the victims, their relatives and / or witnesses) . Based on this, he prepared his final report Without Truth there is no Justice, which constitutes a new narrative on the practices of repression and political violence applied during that period. The report was delivered in June 2010, along with a legal analysis to support the judicialization of the cases and guarantee the passage of the complaint to the claim of justice. However, its publication also calls for keeping track of the different levels of reception it has had among the actors involved, the meanings it has been given or the possible (and diverse) political uses it has been given.
