Abstract

The present study is the complement of the article of our authorship: New Facts about the Larrea, published in the Bulletin of the National Academy of History No. 187, of the year 2012. Always trying not to repeat the already published in Ecuador by other authors, We expose the genealogy of the Larrea family, from the 14th century in the Basque Country, from where they passed to Castro Urdiales; later, in 1577, to the Real Audiencia de Charcas (Bolivia); then, to Bogotá, where Doctor Don Juan de Larrea-Zurbano and Ruiz de Bustillo, Caballero de Alcantara, was Oidor. His son, the Licentiate don Juan Dionisio de Larrea-Zurbano, Caballero de Calatrava, was Oidor of the Royal Audience of Quito in 1711 and gave birth to the Larrea family of Ecuador. We include abundant genealogical data on several lineages that related to the Larreas and about some relatives left in Spain. Of interest are the portraits, never before published, of the first three Marquises of Santiago, related to Larrea, as well as other images of historical value.
