REMEMEBRANZA DE LA CULTURA CUBANA
Keywords:
colonialism, identity, nation, independence, patriotism, miscegenationAbstract
This short article, intended to be read in a meeting of friends of Cuba, has the purpose of exalting the importance of Cuban culture, seeing it from the final century of Spanish domination until today. It is not, therefore, the result of a sustained investigation on this subject and not even a complete revision of what is known to respect, but a reminiscence of historical subjects and characters, destined to the remembrance of the past and the cultivation of national memory from our countries.
This explains the accent that this evocation brings to speak of the origins of the feeling of Cubanness, born in the final days of Spanish domination, as a demonstration of the maturity that by then had reached the emerging Cuban national consciousness.
