LA COMPOSICIÓN POÉTICA, LA LITERATURA: OLMEDO Y FLORES 1835-1836

The theme covers a little known period of the life of these characters of transcendence for the country: José Joaquín Olmedo and Juan José Flores. The first liberal leader of the process of separation from Spain and then Colombia, was: jurist, politician and poet; the second, Bolívar’s trusted military officer, head of the Southern District, was a general of the Colombian army and later of the Ecuadorian, he became the first president of Ecuador.
The work tries to show the relationship, personal and human of these two men through poetry, during the period of the administration of President Vicente Rocafuerte, a stage in which Flores retires, for a time, from the political scene and takes refuge in his hacienda La Elvira in Babahoyo and the closeness of his compadre and friend Olmedo, resident in Guayaquil.
In the Antecedents the period in study that covers the topics is contextualized: Ode to General Flores: singing to Miñarica; then, The poetic composition: Olmedo and Flores; later, José Joaquín Olmedo, preceptor of poetry, and, culminates the work with the theme, Publication of the poems of Juan José Flores.
To carry out this work, we had the help of unpublished documentation: The letters of José Joaquín Olmedo addressed to Juan José Flores between the months of January to May of 1836.
