HISTORIA DE LA INDUSTRIA DEL ECUADOR: 1920-2020
Keywords:
Industry, developmentalism, import substitutionsAbstract
We expose the industrial history from 1920 to 1950, and then the 50s and 60s, when a CEPAL industrial policy has been developed. Along the first oil boom (1972-1981) this industrial policy deepened with a big effort and support from the Government. During the external debt crisis from 1982, the industrial policy of import substitutions has been replaced by an export policy. Priorities were stated among policies of stabilizing and structural adjustment until 2006.In the period of Rafael Correa (2007–2017) a new development industrial policy was formulated to change the productive matrix along the second oil boom (2004-2014) and the crisis that began in 2014. The next Government (2017-2021) changed the economic model to a market economy. Industry was weakened by manifestations in October 2019 and the COVID pandemic beginning in march 2020.
