The goal of this research is to determine the real date when Jipijapa was officially recognized as a canton, from a historical, political and economic analysis that portrays a path of situations that were finally crystalized in the official documents of January 8, 1822 and November 26, 1820. After the extensive review of unpublished documents from the historical archive of the Municipal Library of Guayaquil, the National Archive, papers and books published by historians and researchers, the conclusion that stands is that the formation of the first Jipijapa council came from the insurgent movements that happened during the XVIII century. Also, from the concretion of a revolutionary party in the first decade of the XIX and, the fact that on November 26 of 1820, the first city council of Jipijapa was publicly formed, complying with the command from the Superior and Independent Government of Guayaquil. This institution included the pensive: indigenous leaders of the revolutionary force that started out in 1814.
